Arsenal hosts Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night in the Premier League, as the home side looks to recover from a heavy defeat last time out.
Arsenal blew the chance to go to the top of the Premier League table on Boxing Day by suffering a 4-0 mauling at out-of-form Southampton. The Gunners went behind to a long-range effort from Cuco Martina, before Shane Long added a brace either side of an effort from Jose Fonte.
The defeat leaves Arsenal still trailing leaders Leicester by two points, but third-place Manchester City have now made-up ground on Arsene Wenger’s men. However, the Gunners have a good home record and should be able to see off the underdogs.
On Boxing Day Bournemouth drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace at the Vitality Stadium to extend their unbeaten run in the Premier League to six games. Eddie Howe’s side look to have now found their feet in the top-flight, but will know that a trip to the Emirates Stadium will be a major threat to that decent run of form.
The Cherries will also know that they are just three points clear of the Premier League relegation zone in 14th position in the table.

Facts And Figures

These two teams have never met in the league. In fact incredibly these two teams have only ever had one competitive meeting, which came in the 1987 league cup and resulted in a 3-0 win for the Gunners.
Neither of the two bosses has faced the opposition team in their managerial careers.
Arsenal has won five out of their last six Premier League games at the Emirates Stadium. The north London side has also scored two or more goals in five of those six Premier League games at the Emirates Stadium.
Team Selection and News
Arsenal still has a catalogue of injuries and Wenger is unlikely to change much due to a lack of fit personnel. Alexis Sanchez, Francis Coquelin, Santi Cazorla join Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck and Mikel Arteta in being ruled out by injury.
Gunners boss Wenger may choose to bring in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in place of Joel Campbell on the wing, while the likes of Callum Chambers and Kieran Gibbs could also start.
Bournemouth also has an injury crisis. Callum Wilson, Tyrone Mings and Max Gradel all have long-term injuries, while Tommy Elphick will be out for another few weeks. Joshua King and Lee Tomlin are also both doubts for the trip to north London.

Arsenal v Bournemouth Match Prediction

The visitors may have been on a decent run of late, but the Gunners are very strong at home and should prevail in what could be an entertaining encounter. Wenger’s side will be desperate to atone for that heavy defeat last time out and bounce straight back.
The Cherries have proven that they belong in the top-flight in recent weeks, but this game is likely to end that unbeaten run.
