Arsenal v West Ham United Preview

Title hopefuls Arsenal kick-off their Premier League campaign by hosting West Ham at the Emirates Stadium in one of Sunday’s early kick-offs.
Arsenal will be considered as one of the favourites for the Premier League title this season. The Gunners finished third in the Premier League table last season, and Arsene Wenger’s side will have been boosted by their recent Community Shield win over champions Chelsea.
Gunners boss Wenger has gone for quality rather than quantity this summer in the transfer market. His single first team signing was that of Czech ‘keeper Petr Cech from Chelsea. The veteran star could be a key signing for the north London side.
Arsenal have enjoyed a very promising pre-season campaign, with victories over a Singapore select Xl, Everton, Lyon and Wolfsburg, before that Community Shield victory over Chelsea.
West Ham finished 12th place in the Premier League last season, after a good start to the campaign evaporated and the Hammers dropped out of the top-half of the table. Boss Sam Allardyce has left the club and been replaced by former-Hammers centre-back Slaven Bilic at the helm.
The Hammers have made a number of new signings this summer, with Dimitri Payet, Angelo Ogbonna, Pedro Obiang, Carl Jenkinson, Manuel Lanzini and Stephen Hendrie all arriving at the Boleyn Ground this summer.
The Hammers pre-season has been complicated by their participation in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League, which they qualified for via the Fair Play League.
The Hammers have played seven games in pre-season, with mixed results. The Hammers have claimed wins over Lusitanos twice, Birkirkara and Norwich. However, they have also been beaten by Birkirkara and Werder Bremen.
A 2-2 home draw against Romanian side FC Astra in the third qualifying round has put their chances of making the Europa League group stages in doubt.
