Premier League’s bottom team Aston Villa play hosts to Bournemouth at Villa Park on Saturday, as both teams look to end poor runs of form in the top-flight.

Aston Villa abysmal Premier League campaign continued last time out, as they suffered a 4-0 home defeat against Chelsea. Pedro scored a brace, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Alexandre Pato also getting on the scoresheet.

The defeat now means that manager-less Villa have suffered seven straight league defeats. The Villans are now 15 points from safety and have been all-but relegated for the last few months.

Bournemouth have now suffered consecutive defeats after a 4-0 home defeat against Manchester City last time out. City secured victory with goals from Fernando, Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Aleksandar Kolarov.

Despite their recent poor run of form the Cherries already look to have secured their Premier League status for next season. Eddie Howe’s team are eleven points clear of the drop zone with just six leagues remaining this season.

Facts And Figures

The only Premier League meeting between these two teams came in the reverse fixture on the opening day of the campaign which saw Villa win 1-0 and is the Villans only away win this season in the top-flight.

In fact these two teams have only met six times in all competitions. Villa have recorded four wins, Bournemouth have recorded one win and there has also been a draw.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe has faced the Villans twice in his managerial career and suffered defeats in both clashes.

Aston Villa have failed to score in their last four Premier League outings and scored just twice in their last six league outings.

There has been over 2.5 goals scored in Bournemouth’s last four Premier League games.

Villa have conceded 16 goals in their last six Premier League outings.

Bournemouth have lost just two of their last ten away games in the Premier League.

Team Selection And News

The home side are without young French full-back Jordan Amavi, while fellow full-back Alan Hutton is suspended after being sent-off against Chelsea. Defender Ciaran Clark, winger Adama Traore and striker Libor Kozak all remain doubtful for the clash.

Villa stalwart Gabby Agbonlahor missed the defeat against Chelsea, as he was being disciplined for off-field actions and could once again miss out in this clash.

For the visitor’s striker Callum Wilson and full-back Tyrone Mings are sidelined through long-term injuries and are joined on the sidelines through injury by winger Junior Stanislas. Full-back Adam Smith, midfielder Harry Arter and striker Benik Afobe are all doubts, but are expected to recover in time to feature.

Possible Aston Villa Team Selection

Guzan, Richards, Okore, Lescott, Cissokho, Gueye, Westwood, Sanchez, Gil, Ayew, Gestede

Possible Bournemouth Team Selection

Boruc, Smith, Francis, Cook, Daniels, Ritchie, Surman, Gosling, Gradel, King, Afobe

Match Prediction

Neither of these sides has been great in recent weeks, or in Villa’s case this season, so it is difficult game to judge. I cannot see Villa winning this game and Bournemouth’s confidence will have been hit by consecutive defeats. This game may well finish in a draw.
