Aston Villa host Manchester United at Villa Park on Friday night in the first of this weekend’s Premier League fixtures.
Aston Villa started their new Premier League campaign with a clean sheet and 1-0 victory at Premier League new boys Bournemouth. The only goal of the game came on 72 minutes from new signing Rudy Gestede, who had come on as a second half substitute.
The victory was a hard won one and will have pleased Tim Sherwood considering that Villa started the game with five of their new summer signings. They seem to have gelled well together and Villa fans will have been encouraged by the way their team have started the season.
The visitors also started the new Premier League campaign with a 1-0 win, as Louis van Gaal’s team overcame Tottenham at Old Trafford courtesy of an own goal from England international right-back Kyle Walker.
In truth though it was an unconvincing display by the Red Devils and everybody connected with the club will be hoping for a more exciting performance from United in the Midlands.
However, that is not guaranteed as there have been less than 2.5 goals in the Red Devils last three top-flight matches.

Facts And Figures

Manchester United have been dominant in this fixture during the Premier League era, having won 32 of the 46 Premier League meetings between the pair.
Villa have claimed just three wins and 11 draws in those 46 Premier League meetings.
The Red Devils have also dominated fixtures at Villa Park, winning 14 of the 23 Premier League games on their travels against Villa. The Villans have won just two games at home against United and there has also been seven draws.
United have also won five out of the last six meetings with Villa in the Premier League, with the only blip being a 1-1 draw at Villa Park last season.

Team News

Villa are likely to stick with most of the starting line-up which faced Bournemouth, but Rudy Gestede may be preferred up front to Gabby Agbonlahor and the experienced forward could be switched to the flank in place of Scott Sinclair.
Danish defender Jores Okore remains sidelined through injury, while Jack Grealish, Carles Gil and Jose Angel Crespo are all fitness doubts.
For United Sergio Romero is likely to continue in goal in place of out-of-favour Spaniard David de Gea. Central midfielder Marouane Fellaini is suspended, Phil Jones is missing through injury, while Marco Rojo is also an injury doubt.

Possible Aston Villa line-up: Guzan, Amavi, Richards, Clark, Bacuna, Gueye, Westwood, Veretout, Agbonlahor, Ayew, Gestede

Possible Manchester United line-up: Romero, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Carrick, Young, Depay, Mata, Rooney

Villa will probably have been happier of the two sides with their start to the season, despite both teams collecting three points on the opening day. The visitors looked like they lacked a slight cutting edge against Spurs, while the Villans were solid against Bournemouth.
This could be a very tight game and I really would not be surprised if this game ended in a low-scoring draw, maybe 1-1.

Our Big Match Tip

Back the draw 1-1 with William Hills odds are currently 7/1.
