Aston Villa hosts Stoke at Villa Park on Saturday in the Premier League looking to get back to winning ways after a poor run of form.
Villa have collected just four points from their first seven Premier League games this season, and have suffered three consecutive defeats in the top-flight.
Last time out the Villans suffered a 3-2 defeat at Liverpool, despite Benin international striker Rudy Gestede scoring a brace. Their poor run of form has left the Villans in 18th place, and in desperate need of a victory.
Stoke claimed their first Premier League win of the season last time out with a 2-1 win over Bournemouth at the Britannia Stadium. The Potters win came courtesy of goals from Jonathan Walters, and substitute Biram Mame Diouf who scored the winning goal in the 83rd minute.
The Potters had picked-up just three points from their first six league games of the season, prior to the Bournemouth game. The victory over the Cherries moved Mark Hughes’ side above Villa, and out of the relegation zone.
Stoke striker Biram Mame Diouf has now scored three goals from his six Premier League appearances for the Potters this season. The Senegalese international had missed the previous game through injury.

Facts And Figures

Stoke have had the better of Premier League games between these two teams, winning five games out of the 14, with six games ending in draws and Villa claiming just three wins.
Stoke also have a slightly better head-to-head Premier League record at Villa Park, claiming two wins, while Villa have won once and four games have finished in draws.
Villa have won three out of the last four meetings between the teams, including last time these two teams met at Villa Park in March.
Villa have suffered defeats in five out of the last six Premier League games, all by a one-goal margin.
The Potters have suffered defeats in their last eight Premier League away games.

Team News

The home side have a number of injury problems. Danish centre-back Jores Okore and midfielder Gary Gardner remain sidelined through injury, while Tiago Ilori, Jose Angel Crespo and Gabby Agbonlahor are all fitness doubts for the clash.
Rudy Gestede should continue up front, after he scored a brace last time out. Tim Sherwood may recall Spanish midfielder Carles Gil in favour of Carlos Sanchez, as Villa look for a more positive approach at home.
The visitors are still without centre-back Ryan Shawcross through injury. Marc Wilson and Xherdan Shaqiri are both doubts, but are both expected to recover in time to feature. Diouf may have to again settle for a place on the bench.

Possible Aston Villa line-up: Guzan, Hutton, Richards, Lescott, Amavi, Westwood, Gueye, Sinclair, Gil, Grealish, Gestede

Possible Stoke City line-up: Butland, Johnson, Cameron, Wollscheid, Pieters, Whelan, Adam, Shaqiri, Bojan, Arnautovic, Walters

Aston Villa vs Stoke City Match Prediction

Villa has struggled for form in recent weeks, and Stoke’s spirits will be raised by their first league win of the season last time out. For me this game could be a low-scoring draw, as Stoke tend to be very defensive away from home, and Villa have scored just two goals at home in their three games at Villa Park this season, failing to score twice.
