Betting Preview And Golf Tips For The BMW Championship 2015

Conway Farms GC, Lake Forest, IL – 17-20 September 2015

This year’s BMW Championship returns to Conway Farms Golf Club after a one year absence. The defending champion Billy Horschel, tee’s off in the company of William McGirt at 1.21pm. Horschel currently sits 67th in the Fedex Cup standings and has it all to do though to make the Tour Championship finale. He will have to move up 37 places to ensure he plays the last event as only the top 30 can play.

Previous winner Zach Johnson (2013) is once again high up in the Fedex rankings (7th) and is a possible winner once again. He started last weeks Deutsche Bank Championship very well with rounds of 69 and 65, only to fade over the weekend to finish in a T22. So for Zach Johnson to win The BMW Championship you can generally get odds of 25/1 with most bookmakers.

Jason Day is everyone’s favourite and rightly so. With three wins in the last five tournaments he is on the hottest streak of his career. No longer can we say he is the nearly man. As he has picked up four wins this year alone, including his first major the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits. His form last week in the Deutsche’s was not up to his usual standard but we see a quick return to the top and Jason Day can win at odds of 8/1 with Ladbrokes.

Jason Day’s nearest competitor in the Fedex Cup standings (511pts behind) is Jordan Spieth who also has four wins to his name this year, including two wins in the majors. His form figures for those majors read as 1st(The Masters), 1st(U.S Open), T4(The Open) and 2nd(PGA Championship). His form lately has to be off concern as he has missed both the cuts in his last two events, The Barclays and Deutsche Bank Championship. Will he return to winning ways this week we don’t think so and that is why you can back Spieth to win at 12/1 with Coral’s.

So we have tipped up that Zach Johnson and Jason Day are likely winners of the BMW Championship at reasonable odds. But what about players at better odds than these, let’s have a look at a couple of lively outsiders. Remember that all bookies are giving 5 places at 1/4 the odds at the start of the Championship, so it is prudent that we look at some of these players.

Russell Knox falls into this category. He is having a fine Fedex Cup with a T20 at The Barclays followed by a T12 at the Deutsche’s Bank Championship. We see him improving on that in this reduced field of 70 and can grab a place at least at the very tempting odds of 125/1 with Unibet.
So back each way Russell Knox to win the BMW Championship.

Danny Lee is having a stellar season and after winning The Greenbrier Classic he should it was no fluke by getting another three top 5’s in his next four tournaments. Only missing the cut at The Open. The first two events in the Fedex Cup he had steady T30 and T33. This event should suit him better and can see him going very well and is definitely worth a bet at odds of 80/1 with Unibet.
So back each way Danny Lee to win the BMW Championship.

You might ask why not mention Rory Mcilroy, well we have saved the best for last. It is not very often that Rory does not start as favorite but that is because of the outstanding form from Day. But we would advise snapping the bookmakers arms to get the 9/1. With his ankle fully healed, we expect Rory to roar back to form and take this Championship by the scruff of the neck and win comfortably.

So a quick recap with our 5 tips to follow this week at The BMW Championship.
Rory Mcilroy 9/1
Jason Day 8/1
Zach Johnson 25/1
Danny Lee 80/1
Russell Knox 125/1
