Bournemouth take on Chelsea at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday in the Premier League, as both teams look to end the season in a positive manner.
Bournemouth suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Liverpool last time out. Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge gave the Reds a two-goal lead and Joshua King gave the Cherries a consolation goal in stoppage-time.
Despite that defeat Eddie Howe’s men are comfortably clear of the relegation zone and are virtually assured of their Premier League status for next season.
Chelsea have now suffered consecutive defeats in the Premier League after suffering a 3-0 home defeat against Manchester City last time out, with in-form Sergio Aguero grabbing himself a hat-trick for the Citizens.
The reigning champions have endured a disappointing campaign to say the least and most Blues fans will be looking forward to the summer and the arrival of former-Juventus boss Antonio Conte.
Facts And Figures
The only Premier League meeting between these two teams came in the reverse fixture earlier this season with the Cherries claiming a shock 1-0 win at Stamford Bridge.
In fact there has only been six meetings between these two teams in all competitions, with Chelsea recording four wins and the Cherries winning two games. The three meetings at Bournemouth have seen two Chelsea wins and one Bournemouth win.
Bournemouth have conceded two or more goals at the Vitality Stadium in five of their last six Premier League games, which has contributed to there being over 2.5 goals scored in their last six top-flight games.
The Cherries have lost three out of their last four Premier League games.
Chelsea have won just one of their last seven matches in all competitions and that victory came at rock-bottom Aston Villa. However, the Blues have suffered just one defeat on their travels in their last eight Premier League games.
Chelsea have scored two or more goals in three of their last four away games in the Premier League.
Team Selection And News
The home team are without record signing Tyrone Mings and striker Benik Afobe through injury, while young full-back Adam Smith and central midfielder Harry Arter are also both doubts for the Cherries.
The visitors will be without centre-back Kurt Zouma, who will be sidelined for the rest of the campaign and striker Loic Remy through injury, while Belgian ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois is suspended after being sent-off against Manchester City.
Captain John Terry and playmaker Eden Hazard are also both doubts for the clash and look unlikely to feature.
Possible Bournemouth Team Selection
Boruc, Francis, Elphick, Cook, Daniels, Surman, Ritchie, Gosling, Stanislas, Gradel, King
Possible Chelsea Team Selection
Begovic, Azpilicueta, Cahill, Ivanovic, Baba, Mikel, Fabregas, Willian, Oscar, Pedro, Costa
Match Prediction
These are two teams with very little left to play for in the Premier League this season and two teams that have been in poor form of late. I can see this being a draw, but there may be goals though, as the Cherries have been involved in a number of high-scoring games of late.
