Kick Off – 13.30pm Sunday 17th April 2016 – Live on Sky Sports 1

Bournemouth play hosts to Liverpool at the Vitality Stadium in one of the Premier League’s early kick-off on Sunday, as the away side searches for any form of consistency in the top-flight.

The home side confirmed their place in the Premier League for next season with a 2-1 win at hapless Aston Villa. Centre-back Steve Cook opened the scoring before Joshua King doubled the Cherries lead. Andre Ayew got a goal back for Villa, but the side from Dorset headed home with maximum points.

The win at Villa ended the Cherries two-game losing run and means they are now 14 points clear of the drop zone, which should confirm Eddie Howe’s side’s participation in the top-flight for next season, although 18th place Sunderland have a game in-hand.

Liverpool continued their up and down form this season by hammering Stoke 4-1 at Anfield last time out. Goals from Alberto Moreno, Daniel Sturridge and a brace from Divock Origi sealed the victory for the Reds.

The team from Merseyside are now eighth in the Premier League table, but are nine points behind fourth-place Manchester City, with a game in-hand. Klopp’s side will believe they still have a outside chance of making the Champions League spots.

Facts And Figures

These two teams have met just once in the Premier League, which was the reverse fixture with Liverpool recording a 1-0 win.

The two teams have only ever met eight times in all competitions, with Liverpool recording six wins and two games finishing in draws. The four meetings at Dean Court have seen two draws and two Liverpool wins.

Liverpool have won the last four meetings between these two sides in all competitions.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe has faced the side from Merseyside on four occasions and lost all four meetings.

Bournemouth have won four out of their last six Premier League games, so their form is pretty decent heading into this clash.

Team Selection And News

Bournemouth have a few concerns heading into this clash. Striker Benik Afobe and full-back Tyrone Mings remain sidelined through injury, while Harry Arter, Junior Stanislas and Adam Smith are all doubts.

The Cherries were given an injury boost with the return of striker Callum Wilson, who returned from a long-term injury off the bench at Villa. The former-Coventry striker may have to settle for a place on the bench once again.

Liverpool are still without defender Joe Gomez and striker Danny Ings through injury, as well as England international midfielder Jordan Henderson who has knee problem. German midfielder Emre Can is suspended, while striker Christian Benteke is a major doubt.

Possible Bournemouth Team Selection

Boruc, Francis, Elphick, Cook, Daniels, Ritchie, Gosling, Surman, Gradel, Grabban, King

Possible Liverpool Team Selection

Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno, Leiva, Milner, Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana, Sturridge

Match Prediction

Bournemouth are starting to enjoy life in the Premier League and will be confident of getting a positive result in this clash. Liverpool are a hard team to judge, but I can see this game finishing all-square.
