Bournemouth host Manchester City at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday in a game that the visitors desperately need to win to stay in the top four of the Premier League.

The home side ended a three match winning run last time out by being beaten 3-0 at title chasing Tottenham. England striker Harry Kane scored a brace, before midfielder Christian Eriksen added a third to secure a convincing win for the north London side.

Despite that defeat the Cherries currently lie in 13th position in the Premier League table and look to have already secured their top-flight status for next season. One more win would just be the cherry on top of the cake for the Dorset outfit.

Manchester City have gone from challenging for the title to hanging on to fourth position in a couple of weeks. Last time out in the league the Citizens suffered a 1-0 home defeat against arch-rivals Manchester United, as youngster Marcus Rashford scored the only goal of the game.

The defeat means that both Manchester United and West Ham are just one point behind them in the race for the fourth Champions League spot, so Manuel Pellegrini’s team can ill-afford to slip-up in this clash.

Facts And Figures

The only time these two teams have met in the Premier League was earlier this season at the Etihad Stadium, which resulted in a 5-1 victory for Manchester City.

The Cherries have faced Manchester City on seven occasions in competitive fixtures and have suffered five defeats and claiming just two draws. The teams have met three times at Bournemouth, with City winning twice and one game resulting in a draw.

Manchester City have won just one of their six Premier League games and have suffered four defeats in that period.

However, City have suffered just one defeat away from home in their last six outings in the Premier League.

City’s top scorer Sergio Aguero has failed to score in four of his last five games in the Premier League for the Citizens.

Team Selection And News

Full-back Tyrone Mings and striker Callum Wilson have long-term injuries for the home side, while winger Junior Stanislas is also sidelined through injury. Centre midfielder Harry Arter and forward Joshua King are also doubts for the clash.

Manchester City are without a number of key players with Vincent Kompany, Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne are all out through injury, while ‘keeper Joe Hart also looks unlikely to feature.

Fabian Delph and Samir Nasri have a chance of featuring after injuries, while Nicolas Otamendi and Yaya Toure are also doubts.

Possible Bournemouth Team Selection

Boruc, Smith, Francis, Cook, Daniels, Ritchie, Surman, Gosling, O’Kane, Gradel, Afobe

Possible Manchester City Team Selection

Caballero, Sagna, Mangala, Demichelis, Clichy, Navas, Fernando, Fernandinho, Silva, Bony, Aguero

Match Prediction

City have been highly inconsistent this season and Bournemouth have surprised a few teams. This could be a tricky one for the visitors and they cannot afford to slip-up. I do believe they will slip-up though and the Cherries may just nick a draw against the big spending visitors.
