Last time out Jose Mourinho’s men drew 0-0 with Tottenham at White Hart Lane. It was the Blues consecutive clean sheet in the top-flight and only their fourth in the Premier League this season.
Chelsea find themselves in 14th position in the table after making their worst ever start to a Premier League campaign. They are just five points clear of Saturday’s opponents Bournemouth, who occupy the last relegation spot.
It seems that Chelsea’s fortunes may be changing, with the Blues now claiming two wins in their last three games in all competitions. Three consecutive clean sheets in that run will also give Chelsea fans cause for optimism.
Bournemouth has now enjoyed consecutive draws in the Premier League, after earning a 3-3 draw with Everton in a pulsating encounter. The Cherries were two goals down with just ten minutes left when Adam Smith struck.
Junior Stanislas scored an equaliser on 87 minutes to send Dean Court wild. However it looked like Ross Barkley had seal the points for the Toffees with a goal on 95 minutes. The drama had not finished yet though, as Stanislas struck three minutes later to clinch a point in a remarkable game.
The game may not have resulted in a victory, but the nature of the draw may just lift spirits at the south coast club, who are currently in the relegation zone.

Facts And Figures

These two teams have never met in any competitive games in the past. Neither manager has come up against the opposition in their managerial careers.
Bournemouth has failed to win any of their last eight Premier League games. The Cherries have also conceded two or more in their last six top-flight away games.
Due to Bournemouth’s poor defensive record there has been over 2.5 goals scored in five of the Cherries last six Premier League games on their travels.
In contrast there has been under 2.5 goal scored in Chelsea’s last three top-flight games.

Team Selection & News

Chelsea has a few doubts heading into this vital clash. First choice ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois is close to making his return from injury and may start. If not then Asmir Begovic will continue in goal. John Terry, Ramires, Radamel Falcao and Loic Remy are also all doubts for the clash.
Bournemouth are still without long-term casualties Tyrone Mings, Max Gradel and Callum Wilson. Centre-back Tommy Elphick is due to a return to action later this month. Goalkeepers Artur Boruc and Adam Federici are joined on the doubts list by Steve Cook, Danny Pugh and Lee Tomlin.

Possible Chelsea team line-up: Begovic, Ivanovic, Zouma, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Matic, Fabregas, Willian, Oscar, Pedro, Hazard

Possible Bournemouth team line-up: Boruc, Francis, Cook, Distin, Daniels, Ritchie, Gosling, Surman, Stanislas, Arter, King

Chelsea v Bournemouth Match Prediction

Despite Bournemouth showing good fighting spirit last weekend, I can see Chelsea extending their mini run of form with a victory in this one. The Cherries have looked very poor in defence and the Blues should just about have enough in attack to claim maximum points from this clash.
