Chelsea v Tottenham Match Preview

In-form Premier League leaders Chelsea welcome fierce London rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening, and could stay top of the table over the weekend if they can come out on top. The Blues are in outstanding form in recent weeks and face a Spurs outfit suffering for consistency which could see the visitors’ unbeaten record finally ended in the league.

Home side Chelsea find themselves at the summit of the Premier League with 28 points from a possible 36, having won six on the bounce ahead of this weekend’s encounter with the Lilywhites. Antonio Conte’s men haven’t conceded a goal in the division since September, and are chasing a seventh consecutive clean sheet in the Premier League against the side whose title hopes they ended last season.

Chelsea are one point clear at the top ahead of the visit of Tottenham Hotspur and will ensure of their place in first if they can see beat Mauricio Pochettino’s side. With the Blues boasting five wins from six games at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League while Spurs have failed to win seven of their last eight games in all competitions, suffering three consecutive winless league games on the road, Conte could be the happier manager at full time.

Tottenham have failed to win their last five away games in all competitions, and travel to a stadium only Liverpool have won at in the Premier League since April. Chelsea have lost just twice at Stamford Bridge in 2016, and are 3/4 with William Hill to win against Tottenham this weekend as a result. It’s been three games without victory over Spurs in league head-to-heads for Chelsea so they will be keen to end their derby record to boost their title hopes.

The best Tottenham have managed away to Chelsea is a draw since the Premier League’s inception, and they come into Saturday’s meeting in awful shape. They’ve recently crashed out of the Champions League and are struggling for goals ahead of their trip to face a Chelsea side boasting six clean sheets on the bounce. Tottenham are 4/1 with Betway Sports to win against Chelsea, but the formbook suggests otherwise.
