Chelsea play hosts to London rivals Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Monday night in the Premier League, as the home side attempt to record a rare home victory in the top-flight this season.

The Blues recorded a 4-1 win at Bournemouth last time in the Premier League. Eden Hazard scored a brace, while Pedro and Willian also got on the scoresheet for the Blues. Bournemouth captain Tommy Elphick scored the Cherries goal.

The win did little to improve the Blues position in the Premier League table, as Guus Hiddink’s side currently lies ninth in what has been a very disappointing campaign for the reigning English champions.

Tottenham’s hopes of winning the Premier League title were all-but extinguished last time out, as the north London side drew 1-1 at home against West Brom. The home took the lead through an own goal from Craig Dawson in the first half.

However, the defender atoned for his mistake by heading home the equaliser in the second half. The draw means that Spurs are now seven points behind league leaders Leicester, who only need to win one of their remaining three games to be crowned English champions.

Spurs talisman striker Harry Kane is still in the running for the Premier League golden boot and will be keen to add to his tally of 24 league goals for the season.

Facts And Figures

Chelsea have dominated the 47 Premier League meetings between these two teams, recording 25 victories, while 18 games have resulted in draws and Tottenham have won just four times.

Chelsea have also dominated the 23 Premier League meetings at Stamford Bridge, recording 15 wins and eight games have finished in draws. Spurs have never won at Chelsea in the Premier League.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has faced Chelsea on seven occasions, winning two games, drawing one and suffering four defeats.

Chelsea have drawn six of their last eight Premier League games at Stamford Bridge, winning one and losing one.

Tottenham are unbeaten in seven games in the Premier League and have won five of their last seven away games in the Premier League. In fact Mauricio Pochettino’s side have lost just once in their last 16 away games in the top-flight.

Team Selection And News

Chelsea will be without centre-back Kurt Zouma and striker Loic Remy through injury, while ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois is suspended. John Terry, Gary Cahill and Baba Rahman are also doubts. Chelsea may name an unchanged team if Baba Rahman recovers from injury in time to feature.

Algerian midfielder Nabil Bentaleb is still struggling to recover from a knee injury, while defensive midfielder Eric Dier picked-up a knock against West Brom and could be a doubt for Pochettino’s team.

Possible Chelsea Team Selection

Begovic, Azpilicueta, Ivanovic, Mikel, Baba, Matic, Fabregas, Pedro, Willian, Hazard, Costa

Possible Tottenham Team Selection

Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Mason, Dembele, Lamela, Alli, Eriksen, Kane

Match Prediction

This game is a difficult one to predict, as Spurs have a terrible record at Stamford Bridge down the years, but the Blues have been poor on home soil this season. I can see Chelsea frustrating Spurs and claiming a draw.
