Chelsea host Watford at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Boxing Day, as the home look to make a winning start under a new boss.
Chelsea’s new interim boss Guus Hiddink will take charge of his first game in his second spell as temporary Blues boss after being appointed as Jose Mourinho’s successor last week.
The Premier League champion’s kicked-off life without Mourinho with a 3-1 victory over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge last weekend, as coach Steve Holland picked the team. The Blues took a two goal lead through efforts from Branislav Ivanovic and Pedro.
Brazilian playmaker Oscar made it three early in the second half from the penalty spot. Black Cats substitute Fabio Borini scored a goal soon afterwards, but it turned out to be little more than a consolation goal. The Blues are now 15th in the Premier League table.
Watford have now recorded four consecutive Premier League wins after a 3-0 home victory over Liverpool last time out. In-form Odion Ighalo scored a brace, after Nathan Ake opened the scoring early on.
The win moved Watford up to seventh spot in the Premier League table, just one point behind fourth place Tottenham. Ighalo has now scored 12 goals in the top-flight this season, including five goals in his last four league appearances.

Facts And Figures

These two teams have meet just four times in the Premier League, with Chelsea recording four wins and Watford winning just once.
The Blues have recorded victory in both their Premier League meetings with the Hornets at Stamford Bridge, scoring six goals and conceding just one.
Chelsea have won the last six games against Chelsea in all competitions and also won seven out of the last ten meetings.
Watford boss Quique Sanchez Flores has faced Chelsea four times and failed to win, drawing twice and losing twice.
Watford has now kept clean sheets in their last three Premier League games. The Hornets have been winning at both half and full-time in their last three top-flight games.

Team Selection & News

New Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink should have a near fully-fit squad for this encounter. Belgian winger Eden Hazard has a chance of featuring after missing the Sunderland win and on-loan striker Radamel Falcao remains a doubt. Hiddink may choose to field an unchanged team from that win over Sunderland last time out.
The Hornets are without on-loan Chelsea full-back Nathan Ake, as he is ineligible to play against his parent club. Jose Holebas could come in to replace the youngster. Tommy Hoban and Joel Ekstrand remained sidelined through injury, while Sebastian Prodl is a doubt for the clash.

Possible Chelsea team line-up: Courtois, Ivanovic, Terry, Zouma, Azpilicueta, Matic, Fabregas, Willian, Oscar, Pedro, Oscar

Possible Watford team line-up: Gomes, Nyom, Britos, Cathcart, Holebas, Abdi, Watson, Capoue, Jurado, Deeney, Ighalo

Chelsea v Watford Match Prediction

The victory for the Blues last time out will lift spirits for the game against a vibrant Hornets side. Quique Sanchez Flores’ side are on a good run of form, but this could be a very difficult encounter. For me the reigning Premier League champions should have just enough to record a consecutive win.
