Chelsea kick off the Antonio Conte era at Stamford Bridge, with a visit from neighbours West Ham on Monday night, as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 10th place finish last season.

Having failed to qualify for European football for the first time since the 1995/96 season, this may just prove the advantage in the Championship race and Conte’s side are odds of 4/6 with to win this clash.

It’s been a quieter summer by Chelsea’s standards, but the acquisitions of Michy Batshuayi from Marseille and title winner N’Golo Kante from Leicester City, could prove instrumental in wrestling the title back from the Foxes.

With John Terry signing up for one more year, it will be very interesting to see how quickly the Blues from West London adapt to Conte’s style.

As for West Ham United they had a wonderful last ever season at the Boleyn Ground finishing 7th, but are underdogs to win this clash at odds of 5/1 with to claim a rare win against Chelsea.

They are already two games into the season having seen off NK Domzale in the third Qualifying round of the Europa League.

The Hammers have certainly shown ambition in the transfer window this time around, with the signings of striker Andre Ayew who cost £20m from Swansea City, along with another striker in the form of Toni Martinez, winger Sofiane Feghouli and Gokhan Tore from Turkish side Besiktas.

The Hammers have a pretty appalling English Premier League record at Stamford Bridge, winning only four of 20 encounters, since they were first promoted to the league back in May 1993.

You have to go back to September for the last time the Hammers picked up all three points at the Bridge, winning by the odd goal in five thanks to one from Jermain Defoe and a brace from Paolo Di Canio.

This is the second time in the Premier League era that this fixture has kicked off the new campaign with the last time being on August 19th 2000, when new signings Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Mario Stanic gave manager Gianluca Vialli a winning start to the campaign, although it proved a false down as he sacked a month later.

Last season’s corresponding fixture saw the sides draw 2-2 as a late Cesc Fabregas penalty earned a point for the hosts when it looked like West Ham may go away with all three.

Chelsea were impressive in their last pre-season outing defeating Italian side AC Milan 3-1. The Blues could hand debuts to Batshuayi and Kante. The Blues are without centre-back Kurt Zouma, who has a long-term injury, while John Obi Mikel is at the Olympics with Nigeria.

As for the visitors, the Hammers could hand a debut to Andre Ayew and a first Premier League start to Sofiane Feghouli. Aaron Cresswell has a long-term injury, so Sam Byram is likely to play at left-back. Manuel Lanzini has also been ruled out through injury

Possible Chelsea team line-up: Courtois, Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Kante, Matic, Willian, Fabregas, Hazard, Costa
Possible West Ham team line-up: Adrian, Antonio, Reid, Ogbonna, Byram, Noble, Kouyate, Ayew, Feghouli, Payet, Carroll

BOUK Betting Tips
It’s a step into the unknown for Chelsea this time around but without the distraction of European football, I think they’ll edge this London derby with a narrow victory.
