The home side suffered a frustrating 1-0 defeat at home to struggling Sunderland last time out on Monday night. The Eagles were kept at bay, before Jermain Defoe struck for the visitors with just ten minutes left on the clock.
The defeat leaves Alan Pardew’s side tenth in the Premier League table, but a victory over the Magpies could see the Eagles move into the top-six if results go in their favour. Pardew will be keen to collect maximum points against his former employers.
The visitors continue to struggle in the Premier League and last time out suffered a 3-0 home defeat against league leaders Leicester City. The defeat, coupled with other results over the weekend mean that the Magpies are just a point above the drop zone, with arch-rivals Sunderland breathing down their necks.
Newcastle has scored just two goals in their six away games this season and has claimed just one win on their travels. However that victory came in their last away game at Bournemouth prior to the international break.

Team Selection & News

Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has a relatively fully-fit squad to choose from for the clash with his former team. Winger Bakary Sako and striker Dwight Gayle are the only injury doubts for the Eagles.
Newcastle are in the midst of an injury crisis heading to Selhurst Park. Tim Krul, Steven Taylor, Jack Colback, Rolando Aarons, Gabriel Obertan and Emmanuel Riviere are all expected to miss out through injury, while there are also doubts about the fitness of Cheick Tiote and Massadio Haidara.
Better news on the goalkeeper front though, as second choice Karl Darlow has returned to fitness and may return in place of Rob Elliot.

Crystal Palace v Newcastle Match Prediction

Palace may have a poor recent record against Newcastle, but I do believe that they will come out on top in this clash. Steve McClaren’s side keep threatening to improve, only to falter. I can only see a home win in this clash.
