Everton host Arsenal at Goodison Park on Saturday in the Premier League’s early kick-off, as the visiting team attempt to resurrect their title challenge.

The home side will head into this clash on the back a 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final win over Chelsea, with Romelu Lukaku scoring a brace. The Toffees Premier League form has been poor of late though and the side from Merseyside find themselves 12th in the table.

Last time out in the Premier League the Toffees suffered a 3-2 home defeat against West Ham, despite being two goals up with just 12 minutes left. The defeat was their second in a row at Goodison Park.

Despite the Toffees inconsistent form this season, Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has been in fine form scoring in the top-flight scoring 18 times.

Arsenal suffered a 2-1 defeat at home against Watford in the FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday. Their Premier League results have not been much better of late. Last time out the Gunners drew 2-2 at arch-rivals Tottenham despite being reduced to ten-men.

Arsenal challenge for the Premier League title looks to be destined to fail, with the Gunners currently 11 points behind league leaders Leicester City at the top of the table.

Team Selection And News

Everton are without suspended central midfielder Gareth Barry and winger Kevin Mirallas, while full-back Bryan Oviedo and midfielder Darron Gibson are both also doubts. Bosnia and Herzegovina midfielder Muhamed Besic coming in for the suspended Barry is likely be the only change to the starting line-up from the win over Chelsea.

Arsenal have a number of injury problems heading to Merseyside. First choice goalkeeper Petr Cech is joined on the sidelines through injury by midfielders Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tomas Rosicky and Aaron Ramsey, while French centre-back Laurent Koscielny is also doubtful.

Possible Everton Team Selection

Robles, Coleman, Jagielka, Funes Mori, Baines, Besic, McCarthy, Lennon, Barkley, Cleverley, Lukaku

Possible Arsenal Team Selection

Ospina, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Gabriel, Monreal, Coquelin, Elneny, Sanchez, Ozil, Welbeck, Giroud

Match Prediction

These two teams experienced very different emotions in the FA Cup quarter-finals, which could have a big effect on this clash. Everton will have their tails up and Arsenal’s morale may have taken a hit. The lift for the home side could just be enough to give them the edge in this clash.
