Everton face a tough home game at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon as they welcome Premier League runners-up Manchester City to Merseyside.
Everton have picked up a draw and a win from their first two games of the Premier League campaign. Last time out the Toffees produced an impressive performance to see-off Southampton 3-0 at St Marys.
Belgium international striker Romelu Lukaku was in top form, as he scored a brace and looked dangerous throughout. England starlet Ross Barkley also produced a good display, scoring in his second consecutive match and also proving a thorn in the side of the Saints.
Manchester City have started the Premier League campaign in fine form, claiming two 3-0 victories. Last time out the Citizens dominated as they defeated reigning champions Chelsea 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
Captain and centre-back Vincent Kompany looks close to recovering his top form in defence. He has also been very effective up the other end of the pitch, having scored in both of City’s first opening games of the Premier League campaign.
Despite their good form though, City will know that this will not be an easy game, especially on the back of the Toffees morale boosting win at Southampton.

Facts And Figures

Everton have the upper hand in Premier League meetings between the pair, having won 17 of the 36 meetings, with City claiming 13 wins and there being six draws.
City has a poor record at Goodison Park, winning just three times on their last 18 visits to Goodison Park, with Everton collecting ten wins and there being five draws.
Although Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has beaten counterpart Roberto Martinez three times in four meetings of the two bosses. The other game was a draw, which came last time when these two teams met in January.
The visitors look formidable at the back, having kept clean sheets in five of their last six Premier League games. That defence will be put to the test by Everton’s in-form attack though.

Team News

Everton have a number of absentees for this clash. Leighton Baines, Steven Pienaar, Tony Hibbert and Darron Gibson remain sidelined through injury, while Republic of Ireland international Aiden McGeady is also a major doubt. The Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is likely to name an unchanged side for this clash.
For the visitors central midfielders Fernando and Fabian Delph are likely to miss the clash through injury. Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini is also likely to name an unchanged side after that convincing victory over Chelsea on Sunday.

Possible Everton line-up: Howard, Coleman, Jagielka, Stones, Galloway, Barry, McCarthy, Kone, Barkley, Cleverley, Lukaku

Possible Manchester City line-up: Hart, Sagna, Kompany, Mangala, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Toure, Sterling, Silva, Navas, Aguero

Prediction

This could be a tight game and I cannot see City dominating this one like they have in their opening two games. Goodison can be a difficult place for teams to visit and Roberto Martinez’s side could claim a draw in this one.
An alternative bet would be for both teams to score, as both teams’ attacks have looked dangerous in the opening games of the campaign.

Our Big Match Tip

Back the draw with William Hills odds are currently 14/5.
