Everton play hosts to  newly relegated Norwich at Goodison Park on Sunday in the Premier League, as the home side looks to end the season in a positive manner.

The Toffees poor run of form continued last time out, as the Toffees suffered a 3-0 defeat at relegation-threatened Sunderland. Patrick van Aanholt opened the scoring through a free-kick.

Centre-back Lamine Kone scored a goal either side of half-time to give the Black Cats a comfortable victory. Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is now under severe pressure and this could be his last game in charge of the Toffees.

As a result of Sunderland beating the Toffees, Norwich were relegated from the Premier League. The Canaries claimed a 4-2 win over Watford last time out, but it now means very little.

Watford took the lead through Troy Deeney, before goals from Nathan Redmond, Dieumerci Mbokani and an own goal from Craig Cathcart gave the Canaries a 3-1 lead. Odion Ighalo got a goal back early in the second half, but a second goal from Mbokani sealed victory for Alex Neil’s team.

The win did not mean much in the grand scheme of things, as the highest that the side from Norfolk can finish is now 18th place in the Premier League.

Facts And Figures

The 15 Premier League meetings between these two teams have been very equal, as both teams have recorded four wins and seven games have been drawn.

The seven Premier League meetings at Goodison Park have also been close, with Everton recording three wins, Norwich winning twice and two games finishing in draws.

Despite the close nature of previous Premier League games, Norwich have won just one of the last ten meetings in all competitions of these two teams.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has a decent managerial record against the Canaries. The Spaniard has managed against the Norfolk side on ten occasions, recording five wins, four draws and suffering just one defeat.

Everton have won just one of their last ten games in the Premier League. There has been over 2.5 goals scored in the Toffees last five outings in the top-flight.

Norwich have lost four of their last five Premier League games, but the exception was last time out against Watford. The Canaries have also lost eight of their last nine away games in the Premier League.

Team Selection And News

Everton are once again likely to be without Seamus Coleman, Phil Jagielka, Gerard Deulofeu and Tony Hibbert through injury. Young defender Brendan Galloway is back in training, but may not be ready to feature.

The visitors have a number of injury problems heading to Merseyside. Defenders Andre Wisdom and Timm Klose, along with midfielders Jonny Howson and Emmanuel Tettey have been ruled out because of injury.

Possible Everton Team Selection

Howard, Pennington, Stones, Funes Mori, Baines, Barry, McCarthy, Mirallas, Barkley, Cleverley, Lukaku

Possible Norwich Team Selection

Ruddy, Pinto, Bennett, Martin, Olsson, O’Neil, Dorrans, Redmond, Naismith, Hoolahan, Mbokani

Match Prediction

Despite their poor form I can see Everton rounding the season off with a victory in this clash. Neither team has much left to play for this season, so it should be a relatively open game.
