Everton host Chelsea at Goodison Park on Saturday in the early Premier League kick-off, looking to pick-up just their second league win of the season.
Everton have enjoyed a mixed start to their Premier League campaign so far, picking up five points from their first four league games of the campaign.
Last time out the Merseysider’s ground-out a goalless draw at Tottenham’s White Hart Lane. The point will have been well received, as Tottenham has been a difficult place for the Toffees to pick-up points at in recent years.
Roberto Martinez was active in the last week of the transfer window bringing in Argentinian defender Ramiro Funes Mori, Uruguayan striker Leandro Rodriguez and former-England winger Aaron Lennon.
Chelsea have made a terrible start to their title defence, losing two out of their four Premier League games this season. Last time out the Blues suffered a shock 2-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge against Crystal Palace.
Jose Mourinho was chasing a new centre-back to shore up his backline late in the transfer window and failed with bids for both Everton’s John Stones and PSG’s Marquinhos. The Portuguese boss did eventually manage to secure the services of Senegal centre-back Papy Djilobodji from Nantes though.

Facts And Figures

Chelsea have enjoyed the better head-to-head record in the Premier League. The reigning champions have won 22 of the 46 meetings between the two teams.
Everton have claimed just eight wins and there have also been 16 draws.
As you would expect the record at Goodison Park is slightly more even, with Chelsea slightly edging the head-to-head record claiming nine wins, compared to Everton’s seven and seven games finishing in draws.
Chelsea have won seven out of the last ten meetings of these two teams in all competitions, including the last three in the top-flight.
However, Chelsea have been poor at the back this season, conceding at least two goals in all four of their Premier League games so far.

Team News

Everton currently have a number of injury problems. Leighton Baines, Tony Hibbert, Darron Gibson, Steven Pienaar and Tom Cleverley have all been ruled out due to injury. The Toffees have further problems with Bryan Oviedo, Brendan Galloway and Seamus Coleman all doubts.
New signing Aaron Lennon could come in on the left wing in place of the injured Cleverley, while fellow new signing Ramiro Funes Mori is likely to start the game on the bench.
Chelsea captain John Terry should return to the starting line-up after serving a one-game suspension, and could replace Kurt Zouma at the centre of the Chelsea defence. Brazilian playmaker Oscar remains a doubt for the reigning champions.

Possible Everton line-up: Howard, Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Oviedo, Barry, McCarthy, Kone, Barkley, Lennon, Lukaku

Possible Chelsea line-up: Courtois, Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta, Matic, Fabregas, Pedro, Willian, Hazard, Costa

Everton vs Chelsea Prediction

Everton have started the season in unpredictable fashion, but tend to be strong at home. However, the champions will be determined to prove a point though, after their poor start to the campaign.
I believe Chelsea will record a hard fought win and an alternative bet to go for is over 2.5 goals, as Chelsea have struggled at the back in their opening Premier League games and Toffees striker Romelu Lukaku will be determined to put in a good performance against his old club.

You can get odds of 21/20 that there will be over 2.5 goals in this match. Not a bad bet at all we feel.
