The early Premier League kick-off on Sunday sees Everton host arch-rivals Liverpool at Goodison Park in the Merseyside derby.
Everton head into this local skirmish in good spirits, after coming back from two goals down to win 3-2 at West Brom last time out on Monday night. Saido Berahino and Craig Dawson had given the Baggies a two goal lead. However, a brace from Romelu Lukaku and a strike from substitute Arouna Kone sealed the win.
The win took the Toffees to fifth in the Premier League, and there now seems to be a positive sense around the club that the team is heading in the right direction this season.
Liverpool also head into this game on the back of a 3-2 Premier League victory, after overcoming Aston Villa at Anfield last Saturday. The victory saw England international Daniel Sturridge bag his first Premier League goals of the season, as the former-Chelsea star scored a brace.
The win was a much-needed one, as the Reds had gone four Premier League games without a victory, and six in all competitions. A defeat at Goodison would add to the pressure on Reds under-fire boss Brendan Rodgers.

Facts And Figures

Liverpool has had the better of Merseyside derbies in the Premier League, having won 19 of the 46 matches played. Everton have claimed nine victories, while 18 games have been drawn.
The record is slightly closer when it comes to games at Goodison Park, as Liverpool have won on nine occasions, Everton have claimed seven wins and seven games have been drawn.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has only ever claimed victory over Everton once in eight meetings.
Five out of the last six Merseyside derby games have finished in a draw, with Liverpool claiming victory in the other one.
Everton have failed to defeat Liverpool in the last ten meetings of the two Merseyside giants.

Team News

Everton have a number of injury problems heading into this clash. Full-back Leighton Baines and midfielders Steven Pienaar and Tom Cleverley have been ruled out through injury, while Belgian winger Kevin Mirallas will miss out through suspension.
Defenders Seamus Coleman and John Stones are doubts for the clash, along with Mo Besic and versatile full-back Bryan Oviedo. Ivory Coast international Arouna Kone may be rewarded for his Monday winner with a start ahead of Steven Naismith.
The visitors have a number of long-term injury problems. Captain Jordan Henderson, attacking midfielder Roberto Firmino, full-back Jon Flanagan, centre-back Dejan Lovren and striker Christian Benteke are all expected to miss out through relatively long-term problems.

Everton vs Liverpool Match Prediction

This game could be an entertaining encounter and for me will probably result in a draw. Both teams will head into the derby in good spirits after wins last time out, achieved in contrasting circumstances.
An alternative bet to the draw is over 2.5 goals, as both teams looked potent going forward last time out.
