Leicester v Sevilla Betting Preview & Tips

Leicester have a big chance to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, as the Foxes host Spanish side Sevilla at the King Power Stadium in their last-16 second leg tie on Tuesday night.

The Foxes suffered a 2-1 defeat in the first leg and are odds of 12/5 with William Hill to win this clash.

The home side’s fortunes have improved in recent games, as the Foxes have recorded consecutive home wins against Liverpool and Hull to move clear of the Premier League relegation zone. The two wins look to have been enough for interim boss Craig Shakespeare to be handed the job until the end of the campaign.

The Foxes Champions League campaign has been a rare highlight in a poor campaign for the reigning English champions. They recorded victories in four of their first five games in the competition, only to suffer a 5-0 loss at FC Porto in their final group game.

The defeat against Porto coupled with the defeat in the first leg of this tie means that Leicester have suffered consecutive defeats in the competition. However, the side from the Midlands have won all three of their home games in the Champions League, having conceded just one goal, which bodes well for the Foxes progression in this competition.

Sevilla won the first leg and are at odds of 12/5 with William Hill to record a second leg victory in this tight clash.
Jorge Sampaoli’s side have been one of the surprise packages in La Liga this season, currently sitting third in the table. However, consecutive draws in the league has stalled their title challenge.

Sevilla’s record in the Champions League of late is a good one. The Andalucian’s have lost just once in their last eight outings in this competition and have won four of their last six games in Europe’s elite competition.

However, the visitors have a terrible away record in this competition, having won just one of their last nine games on their travels, suffering five defeats in the process. The last time the Spanish side played in England was in the group stages of this competition last season when they suffered a 2-1 loss at Manchester City.

Their recent away games have been low-scoring in the Champions League, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last nine outings on the road. Those recent draws and a poor away record in this competition suggest that the visitors may find their trip to the Midlands hard going.
