Leicester moved to the top of the Premier League table last weekend with a 3-0 victory at struggling Newcastle, with Jamie Vardy, Leonardo Ulloa and Shinji Okazaki all getting on the scoresheet.
This time last year the Foxes were bottom of the table and looking destined for a quick return to the Championship. However Claudio Ranieri’s side have collected 28 points from their first 13 league games, but their good run of form will be put to the test by the United.
Jamie Vardy’s goal against Newcastle meant the England striker equalled Ruud van Nistelrooy’s record of scoring in ten consecutive Premier League games. It would be slightly ironic if Vardy broke the record playing against Van Nistelrooy’s old team.
United are currently second place in the table after last weekend’s 2-1 win at Watford. Memphis Depay gave the Red Devils the lead, before Troy Deeney scored from the spot with just three minutes left in the game.
However, Deeney put an effort past his own ‘keeper to hand United a valuable winner in the 90th minute. Louis van Gaal’s men know that this clash will not be an easy one though with the Foxes in such good form.

Facts And Figures

Manchester United have dominated the 18 Premier League games played between these two teams, claiming victory on 12 occasions and drawing four games. The Foxes have won just two of the games played.
United have also dominated fixtures at Leicester, having won six of the nine games played in the Midlands. Two games have resulted in draws and the Foxes have claimed one victory.
However that victory came last time when these two teams met at the King Power Stadium, as the Foxes recorded a memorable 5-3 win over the Red Devils. That game was also the only time the side from the Midlands have avoided defeat against United in the last ten meetings.
Leicester are in superb form having claimed four consecutive victories in the Premier League. The Foxes have also scored at least two goals in eight of their last nine Premier League matches.

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri has a near fully-fit squad to choose from with midfielder Matthew James the only enforced absentee through injury. The experienced Italian boss looks set to name an unchanged team from the Newcastle win.
United’s injury situation is a lot worse. Full-back Luke Shaw is out with a long-term injury and Antonio Valencia is also expected to miss out through injury.
Louis van Gaal also has a doubt over a number of his first team players with Phil Jones, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Ander Herrera, Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney all fitness doubts for the trip to the Midlands.

Leicester v Manchester United Match Prediction

Usually Manchester United would go to Leicester as hot favourites, but such is the level of confidence within that Leicester team I can see the Foxes taking a point from this clash. This game could be an entertaining one though, even if United may be missing some their best attacking players.
