Betting Preview For The Community Shield

On Sunday Premier League champions Leicester City will go head-to-head with last season’s FA Cup winners Manchester United in the Community Shield.

Leicester’s Premier League title triumph is now well-documented, but they head into this clash as underdogs at odds of 10/3 with .

the Foxes beat all the odds to become the champions of England for the first time in their history. It proved to be a victory for team-work and a style of counter-attacking play that is now proving popular.

Boss Claudio Ranieri has strengthened his squad in the summer with the arrival of Ron-Robert Zieler, Luis Hernandez, Nampalys Mendy and Ahmed Musa. However, the champions suffer a major loss in defensive midfielder N’Golo Kante moving to Chelsea.

The Foxes have however been able to manage to keep star striker Jamie Vardy, who spurned attentions from Arsenal and signed a new deal in the Midlands. Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez has also being retained, despite interest from the Gunners.

History is against the Foxes in this fixture in recent times, as they have won just one of the last ten meetings with the Red Devils in all competitions. The last two clashes between the pair have finished in draws though.

There have been a lot of changes at Manchester United this summer and the Red Devils are favourites to win this game at odds of 10/11 with .

The biggest change at United has been in the dugout. The ever vocal Jose Mourinho has replaced Dutchman Louis van Gaal in the Old Trafford hot seat. The Portuguese boss has set about improving his squad with a number of new signings.

The former Chelsea boss has brought in Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan and centre-back Eric Bailly. French international midfielder Paul Pogba is also believed to be close to joining United.

United are likely to be a much different team to the one that was often regarded as dull under Van Gaal last season. The Red Devils record of six wins from the last ten meetings with the Foxes is a good one, but they have won just one of the last four meetings between the pair.

Team and Selection News

Leicester are unlikely to make that many changes to the starting line-up from last season. The Foxes are likely to name nine of the 11 players that started the majority of last season. The only changes look set to be Mendy filling the void left by Kante and Nigerian international Musa partnering Jamie Vardy in attack.

Manchester United are likely to name the majority of their new signings in their starting line-up. Ibrahimovic is likely to start in attack, with Wayne Rooney, Anthony Martial and Mkhitaryan the three attacking midfielders. Bailly could start alongside Chris Smalling at centre-back.

Possible Leicester team line-up: Schmeichel, Simpson, Morgan, Huth, Fuchs, Mahrez, Drinkwater, Mendy, Albrighton, Musa, Vardy

Possible Manchester team line-up: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Bailly, Shaw, Schneiderlin, Carrick, Mkhitaryan, Rooney, Martial, Ibrahimovic

Betting tip: Leicester v Manchester United
Leicester showed last season that they like to beat the odds, but Manchester United have done some good work in the transfer market and there is a different feel about the club.
The Red Devils should have too much quality for the Foxes and send out a signal of intent for next season’s title race.
