Leicester v Swansea Preview

Leicester hosts Swansea at the King Power Stadium on Sunday in the Premier League, as the home side looks to move one step closer to securing the title.

The home kept their decent run of form last time out by snatching a dramatic 2-2 home draw against West Ham last time out. Jamie Vardy gave the Foxes the lead in the first half, but was dismissed in controversial style early in the second half.

Andy Carroll equalised for the Hammers, before full-back Aaron Cresswell gave Slaven Bilic sides the lead. However, Claudio Ranieri’s sides snatched a late-point with a stoppage-time penalty kick from substitute Leonardo Ulloa.

The draw means that the gap between the Foxes and second-place Tottenham is now five points and the title race now looks far from over.

Swansea suffered a 3-0 defeat at relegation-threatened Newcastle, with Jamaal Lascelles, Moussa Sissoko and Andros Townsend scoring the goals. Despite the defeat the Welsh side are comfortably in midtable.

The Swans will however be looking to finish the campaign in strong fashion and secure a top-ten spot this season.

Facts And Figures

These two teams have met on just three occasions in the Premier League with Leicester recording two wins and Swansea have recorded one win.

Leicester have won the only Premier League meeting at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes have won three out of the last four meetings in all competitions between these two teams.

Leicester are unbeaten in 13 home Premier League games and the Foxes have also kept five clean sheets in their last seven top-flight games at the King Power Stadium.

Swansea have been poor in defence on their travels and have conceded two or more in their last three away games in the Premier League.

The Welsh side have won just one of their last six away games in the Premier League and have also conceded just one clean sheet in their last 18 away games in the top-flight.

Team Selection And News

The home side were handed a major blow with star striker Jamie Vardy serving a ban for his red card against West Ham. Central midfielder Matthew James is still struggling for fitness, while on-loan Swansea winger Nathan Dyer is ineligible to play against his parent club.

Swansea has the luxury of a full-fit squad. The likes of Wayne Routledge, Bafetimbi Gomis and Kyle Naughton will be hoping to start this game after being on the bench last time out. However, the Swans may name an unchanged team, as they have had a pretty settled line-up for the last few weeks.

Possible Leicester Team Selection

Schmeichel, Simpson, Huth, Morgan, Fuchs, Mahrez, Kante, Drinkwater, Albrighton, Ulloa, Okazaki

Possible Swansea Team Selection

Fabianski, Rangel, Fernandez, Williams, Taylor, Fer, Cork, Ayew, Sigurdsson, Montero, Paloschi

Match Prediction

Leicester are not the same team without Jamie Vardy, but are strong at home and Swansea have not been great on their travels in recent weeks. I can see the Foxes grinding out a win in this clash, but it could be a tight game.
