Liverpool host Everton at Anfield in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday night in the Premier League with local bragging rights at stake.

Liverpool continued a decent run of form with a 2-1 win at Bournemouth last time out. First half goals from Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge put the Reds in complete control, before Joshua King scored a consolation goal for the Cherries in stoppage-time.

The win means that Jurgen Klopp’s side are now eighth, but have games in-hand on the teams above them and a top-six finish is not out of reach this season.

Everton have struggled for wins in the Premier League of late and drew 1-1 with Southampton last time out. Ramiro Funes Mori gave the Toffees the lead rather against the run of play, but Senegalese international Sadio Mane equalised for the Saints.

The pressure from the Toffees fans is growing on boss Roberto Martinez, but this game is likely to take a backseat to the Merseysiders FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United on Saturday.

Facts And Figures

These two teams have met 47 times in the Premier League with Liverpool recording 19 victories. Everton have recorded nine wins and 19 games have resulted in draws.

The 23 Premier League meetings at Anfield have favoured the home side, who has recorded ten wins, while 11 games have been drawn and Everton have recorded just two wins.

Everton have not won any of the last eleven meetings with Liverpool in all competitions, although seven of those games have finished in draws.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has a mixed record against Liverpool. The Spaniard has faced the Reds on 13 occasions, winning twice, claiming seven draws and suffering four defeats.

Everton have failed to win in their last six Premier League games and have drawn their last three games in the top-flight.

The Toffees have only lost two away games in the Premier League this season, but have an awful record at Anfield.

Team Selection And News

Everton boss Roberto Martinez made a number of changes to his starting line-up last time out and named a slight weakened line-up with the FA Cup semi-final in mind. The Spaniard is unlikely to name such a weakened side in this clash though.

Centre-back Phil Jagielka and midfielder Tom Cleverley will both miss this clash through injury. Seamus Coleman, Leighton Baines and Aaron Lennon are also doubts. Youngster Callum Connolly may start at full-back if Coleman fails to recover in time.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made a host of changes last time out, but is likely name his strongest side in this one. Liverpool are now without central midfield pair Jordan Henderson and Emre Can through injury, while the likes of Joe Gomez and Danny Ings have long-term injuries.

Out-of-favour Belgian striker Christian Benteke is also a doubt, but would have been unlikely to have featured in this one.

Possible Liverpool Team Selection

Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Moreno, Allen, Milner, Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana, Sturridge

Possible Everton Team Selection

Robles, Connolly, Stones, Funes Mori, Baines, Barry, McCarthy, Lennon, Barkley, Kone, Lukaku

Match Prediction

Liverpool are likely to name a strong starting line-up, while Everton have other priorities with that FA Cup semi-final looming. It is difficult to see past a home win in this clash.
