Liverpool play hosts to Watford at Anfield on Sunday in the Premier League, as both teams look to move up the Premier League table.

The home side suffered a 3-1 defeat at Swansea last time out in the Premier League. Andre Ayew gave the Swans the lead, before Jack Cork made it two. The Reds reduced the deficit on 65 minutes through a strike from Belgian striker Christian Benteke.

The home side hit back just two minutes later though, as Ayew grabbed his second of the game and ended the Merseysiders chances of a comeback. The defeat was made worse by young full-back Brad Smith being shown a red card for two bookable offences on 76 minutes.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are eighth in the Premier League table, but will know that they can still finish in the top-six if they win their remaining games.

Watford defeated hapless Aston Villa 3-2 last time out in the Premier League. The Villans took the lead through Ciaran Clark, only for Almen Abdi to level the scores. The side from the Midlands regained the lead through a Jordan Ayew effort.

However, Troy Deeney scored on 90 minutes, before scoring a winner deep into stoppage-time for the Hornets. Quique Sanchez Flores side are now 12th in the table and could still finish in the top half of the table.

Team Selection And News

Liverpool have a number of personnel issues heading into this clash, with defenders Brad Smith and Mamadou Sakho missing through suspension. Midfielders Jordan Henderson and Emre Can are sidelined through injury, as is Belgian striker Divock Origi. Danny Ings and Joe Gomez are unlikely feature again this season due to injury.

The visitors will be without centre-back Tommie Hoban and central midfielder Etienne Capoue through injury, while centre-back Joel Ekstrand is still struggling for match fitness and is unlikely to feature.

Possible Liverpool Team Selection

Mignolet, Clyne, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno, Leiva, Allen, Milner, Firmino, Coutinho, Benteke

Possible Watford Team Selection

Gomes, Paredes, Cathcart, Britos Anya, Abdi, Suarez, Watson, Jurado, Deeney, Ighalo

Match Prediction

Liverpool may well be tired from their trip to Dortmund, but I believe Jurgen Klopp’s team will probably come out on top in this one, as Watford have little to play for and have been poor on their travels in the top-flight in recent months.
