Liverpool v Arsenal Match Preview

In Saturday’s late Premier League kick-off Liverpool host Arsenal at Anfield in a crucial game in the fight for the Champions League places in the English top-flight.

Liverpool head into this game in poor form, but are still favourites with Betway to clinch the win at odds of 23/20.

The home side head into this clash on the back of a 3-1 defeat at struggling champions Leicester on Monday night. The defeat against the Foxes means that Jurgen Klopp’s side have won just one of their last seven games in the top-flight, suffering three defeats in their last five outings in the league.

One facet of the Merseysiders form that has not been terrible of late is their home form, as the Reds have suffered just one defeat in their last 20 Premier League games at Anfield.

In fact, the Reds have won three of their last five home games in the top-flight. The home side are in need of a victory, as they currently sit fifth in the table and a point behind their fourth place opponents. A win could move Liverpool up to third in the table temporarily, although Manchester United could leapfrog both teams with a win in the early kick-off on Saturday.

The Gunners last outing was a 2-0 defeat of minnows Sutton United in the FA Cup fifth round. However, like their opponents the Gunners have not been in the best of form of late, losing three of their last five games in all competitions.

In fact, Arsene Wenger’s side have lost two of their last three outings in the Premier League, while also winning just one of their last five away games in the top-flight, suffering three defeats in the process.

This is a difficult match to predict with both teams under a cloud so we will leave picking a winner and back that both teams will score at odds of 4/6 with Paddypower. Why back that both teams will score, well that’s easy both teams defence’s are shoddy and with a lack of confidence it should be an attackers paradise. For an alternative bet and if he starts Theo Walcott to score anytime is a big price at 7/2 with Betfred.
