Manchester City hosts Southampton at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday in the Premier League, as the Citizens look to return to winning ways following defeat last time out in the top-flight.
Manchester City suffered a surprise 4-1 defeat at home against Liverpool last time out in the Premier League. Jurgen Klopp’s side raced into a three goal lead through goals from an own goal from Eliaquim Mangala, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.
Sergio Aguero got a goal back, but Liverpool centre-back rubbed salt into the wounds in the second half with a superb volley. Prior to that defeat City had previously won 12 of their previously 13 Premier League home games. City dropped to third in the Premier League table courtesy of that loss.
One positive for City to take from the defeat was the return of star striker Sergio Aguero after injury. He played just over an hour and got on the scoresheet. No doubt he will be eager to add to his seven top-flight goals this season.
Southampton heads into this game on the back of a lacklustre 1-0 home defeat against Stoke City, with Spanish forward Bojan scoring the only goal of the game. The Saints had previously gone six league games without defeat.
Ronald Koeman will be looking for his side to produce a positive response to that poor performance against Stoke with a good display in Manchester.

Manchester City v Southampton Match Prediction

Both teams head into this game on the back of defeats, but the home side will be eager to put that right and I expect them to that, especially as the Saints are missing the aforementioned Graziano Pelle for this clash.
