Manchester City hosts Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League on Boxing Day, as two teams in desperate need of a win clash.
Manchester City suffered a blow to their title ambitions with a 2-1 defeat at Arsenal on Monday night. The Gunners established a two goal lead in the first half through goals from Theo Walcott and Olivier Giroud, before Yaya Toure scored late on to make it a nervous finish for the Gunners.
The defeat leaves Manuel Pellegrini’s men in third place in the table, four points behind Arsenal and six points behind leaders Leicester City.
Sunderland suffered their third consecutive defeat last time out, losing 3-1 at Chelsea. The Blues established a three goal lead through goals from Branislav Ivanovic, Pedro and Oscar, before Black Cats substitute Fabio Borini scored a consolation goal in the second half.
The defeat leaves the Black Cats second from bottom in the Premier League. The side from the north east are in deep trouble in the fight for survival. The Black Cats are now five points away from the safety of 17th spot.

Manchester City v Sunderland Match Prediction

It is hard to see anything other than predicting a home win in this clash. City has been inconsistent at times this season, but Sunderland look completely bereft of confidence after a difficult run of games of late. The Black Cats are unlikely to prove bad luck for Manuel Pellegrini and his team in this encounter.
