Manchester United play hosts to Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on Wednesday night in the Premier League, as the home side continue their attempts to seal a Champions League spot.

Manchester United kept pace in the race for fourth spot with a 1-0 victory over rock-bottom Aston Villa at Old Trafford, as youngster Marcus Rashford was once again the hero scoring the only goal of the game.

The win against Villa kept United in fifth place in the Premier League and the Red Devils are now just four points behind fourth-place Arsenal. Louis Van Gaal’s side still harbour hopes of making the top four.

The visitors continued an improvement in their recent form with a 1-1 draw at Arsenal last time out. The Gunners took the lead in the first half through Alexis Sanchez, only for Yannick Bolasie to equalise with less than ten minutes left on the clock.

Palace remain 16th position in the Premier League table and the Eagles now look safe from the spectre of relegation, as they are now nine points clear of the drop zone.

Facts And Figures

These two teams have met 13 times in the Premier League, with United recording ten wins and three games resulting in draws.

The Red Devils have also won all six Premier League meetings at Old Trafford.

Palace have won just one of the last ten meetings between these two teams. In fact United won eight of those ten meetings.

Palace boss Alan Pardew has a woeful managerial record against United. He has faced the Red Devils on 14 occasions and suffered nine defeats. Pardew also claimed just two wins and three draws from those meetings.

Manchester United have won their last five home games in the Premier League and the Red Devils have kept four clean sheets in those five home wins.

Louis van Gaal’s team have lost just one of their last seven games in all competitions.

Palace have won just one of their last 17 Premier League games and have not won in their last eight games in the top-flight.

Team Selection And News

The home side will be without full-back Luke Shaw and midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger through injury, while Spanish central midfielder Ander Herrera is also a doubt. French forward Anthony Martial was rested against Villa, but may return to the starting line-up in place of Memphis Depay.

Palace are still without striker Marouane Chamakh, while centre-backs Brede Hangeland and Scott Dann, as well as midfielder James McArthur and striker Dwight Gayle. The Eagles boss Alan Pardew could pick an unchanged starting line-up.

Possible Manchester United Team Selection

De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Rojo, Schneiderlin, Fellaini, Mata, Rooney, Martial, Rashford

Possible Crystal Palace Team Selection

Hennessey, Ward, Dann, Delaney, Souare, Jedinak, Cabaye, Puncheon, Bolasie, Ledley, Wickham

Match Prediction

Manchester United have a strong recent record at home in the Premier League and I expect them to continue that good record by recording a win over the Eagles, despite the visitors better performances in recent games.
