Kick Off – 12.45pm Saturday 16th April 2016 – Live on BT Sport 1

Two teams in the midst of the relegation battle meet in the Premier League early kick on Saturday, as Norwich hosts Sunderland at Carrow Road.

Norwich suffered a 1-0 defeat at Crystal Palace last time out in the Premier League, with Jason Puncheon scoring the only goal of the game. The draw means that the Canaries are still very much in the fight for Premier League survival.

Despite the defeat Alex Neil’s side are four points clear of the relegation zone and a win against the Black Cats would move the side from Norfolk well clear of the drop zone.

Sunderland are in the relegation zone a place below 17th Norwich in the table and four points behind the Canaries. The Black Cats suffered a 2-0 home defeat against league leaders Leicester, with England international Jamie Vardy scoring a second half double.

Sam Allardyce’s side know that they cannot afford to lose this clash, as it would make it very difficult for the Black Cats to recover in the very little time remaining in the campaign.

Sunderland have failed to win any of their last five Premier League games. The Black Cats have also won just one of their last nine away games in the top-flight.

Team Selection And News

Norwich are without Norwegian central midfielder Emmanuel Tettey through injury, while Russell Martin and Timm Klose are both doubts, but are both expected to recover in time to feature. The likes of winger Nathan Redmond and centre-back Sebastian Bassong will be hoping for starts, after coming off the bench last time out.

Sunderland’s only injury problem is young forward Duncan Watmore, who has an ankle injury. Dutch winger Jeremain Lens may get his chance to start in this clash and may come in for Fabio Borini on the wing. Experienced centre-back John O’Shea will be hoping to return to the starting eleven.

Possible Norwich Team Selection

Ruddy, Martin, Bennett, Klose, Olsson, Jarvis, O’Neil, Howson, Brady, Naismith, Mbokani

Possible Sunderland Team Selection

Mannone, Yedlin, Kone, Kaboul, Van Aanholt, Kirchhoff, Lens, Cattermole, M’Vila, Khazri, Defoe

Match Prediction

This game is very much an old-fashioned six-pointer at the bottom of the table and is likely to be very tight. I can see Norwich scraping a victory, just like they did against Newcastle in their last home game.
