Southampton hosts Aston Villa at St Marys on Saturday in the Premier League, as both teams look to recover from defeats last time out.
Southampton suffered a 3-1 defeat at Manchester City last time out, with Shane Long grabbing the Saints only consolation from their trip to the Etihad Stadium. The defeat left Ronald Koeman’s side tenth in the Premier League table.
Rather worryingly for Southampton the defeat at big spending City was their second in a row in the Premier League. However, with rock-bottom Villa coming to town they will be confident of ending that mini-slump.
Aston Villa’s nightmare campaign continued on Saturday, as they suffered a 3-2 defeat at home against top-flight new boys Watford. Villa’s two goals were scored by centre-back Micah Richards and Jordan Ayew, but they were of little consolation to the Villans fans.
The defeat meant that Villa stayed rooted to the bottom of the league and also that the side from the Midlands have made their worse ever start to a Premier League campaign. Villa has taken just five points from their 14 league games so far this season. Remi Garde’s team are now seven points away from safety.

Southampton v Aston Villa Match Prediction

The Saints have not been in great form of late, as like many of their Premier League counterparts they are struggling for consistency. Villa produced a better performance last time out against Watford, but still suffered a defeat.
Southampton should have the quality to collect maximum points in this one, especially with the return of star striker Pelle after suspension.
