Southampton hosts Swansea at St Marys on Saturday in the Premier League, as both teams look to get back on track with a win on the south coast.
Southampton has endured mixed fortunes so far this season. Last time out the Saints suffered a 3-2 defeat and a brace from Italian international striker Graziano Pelle meant very little in the end.
The defeat has left Ronald Koeman’s men 16th in the Premier League table, after winning just one of their top-flight games this season. In fact the Saints have lost two out of their last three games at St Marys, which is usually a tough place to visit for opponents.
One bright spot for Koeman’s side is that they have claimed clean sheets in three of their first six Premier League games this season.
Following a bright start to the campaign, the Swans have hit a slight road block in recent games, picking-up just one point from their last two games. Last time out Garry Monk’s side drew 0-0 with Everton at the Liberty Stadium, but the visitors missed a host of good chances to win the game.
Despite their failure to win either of the last two games, the Welsh side are still well positioned in the table and could move into the top four if results go for them with a win in this clash.
One worry for the Swans is the fact that only Bafetimbi Gomis and Andre Ayew have scored for them in the Premier League this season, although the pair have scored four and three goals respectively in the top-flight this season.

Facts And Figures

This fixture does not have a long Premier League history, with only six games between the pair. Southampton has won three, Swansea has won one and two games have been drawn.
The record at St Marys is very even, as both teams have claimed a win apiece and the other game finished in a draw.
Southampton have won three out of the last four games against Swansea in the Premier League, but suffered a 1-0 defeat at St Marys last time these two teams met.

Team News

Southampton’s first choice ‘keeper Fraser Forster is still sidelined through a long-term injury and Dutch international Maarten Stekelenburg will continue in goal for the Saints. Centre-back Florin Gardos also has a long-term injury and will miss out.
Full-back Ryan Bertrand has returned to training, following a knee injury, while midfielders Gaston Ramirez and Jordy Clasie are fitness doubts. Cedric Soares may return in place of Maya Yoshida at right-back.
Swansea boss Garry Monk has a fully-fit squad and could field the same starting line-up as against Everton, as it is arguably the Swans strongest eleven.

Possible Southampton line-up: Stekelenburg, Cedric, Fonte, Van Dijk, Bertrand, Wanyama, Romeu, Mane, Ward-Prowse, Tadic, Pelle

Possible Swansea line-up: Fabianski, Naughton, Fernandez, Williams, Taylor, Shelvey, Cork, Ayew, Sigurdsson, Montero, Gomis

Southampton vs Swansea Match Prediction

For me this game could go either way, but I think it will probably be a score draw. On paper these two teams are pretty evenly-matched and I can see the two teams cancelling each other out.

Our Big Match Tip

This is no brainer really the score draw sticks out so back the 1-1 draw.
