Stoke play hosts to Tottenham at the Britannia Stadium on Monday night in the Premier League, as the visitors attempt to stay in the title race.

Stoke suffered a 4-1 mauling at Liverpool last time out. Alberto Moreno opened the scoring for Liverpool, before Bojan equalised for the Potters. However, a goal from Daniel Sturridge and a double from Divock Origi saw the Merseysiders record a big win.

The defeat saw Liverpool leapfrog the Potters in the table and Mark Hughes’ side are now ninth in the table. Their chances of European football for next season now look slim.

Tottenham stayed in the race for the Premier League title with a 3-0 victory over Manchester United at White Hart Lane last time out. The game was goalless in the first 70 minutes, before three goals in six minutes from Dele Alli, Toby Alderweireld and Erik Lamela gave Spurs the win.

Tottenham are now seven points behind Premier League leaders Leicester in the race for the title, so are still in with a chance of being crowned English champions in May.

England international midfielder Dele Alli has now scored eight goals and produced 12 assists in the Premier League this season.

Facts And Figures

The 15 Premier League meetings between these two teams have been relatively even, with Tottenham recording seven wins, Stoke winning five times and three games finished in a draw.

The seven Premier League meetings at the Britannia Stadium have been a similar story, as Spurs have recorded four wins and Stoke have recorded three victories.

Tottenham have won three out of the last ten meetings in all competitions, but have failed to win any of the last three.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has failed to beat Stoke in six attempts, recording four draws and suffering two defeats in the process.

Stoke boss Mark Hughes does not have an especially good record against Spurs either, as the Welshman has lost on ten of the 21 occasions he has faced Tottenham, winning five times and drawing six times.

Team Selection And News

Tottenham are without Algerian central midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, who has a knee injury, while Cameroonian striker Clinton N’Jie is close to a return from a knee injury, but this game may come too soon for him. Spurs will name an unchanged starting line-up for this clash.

Stoke are without ‘keeper Jack Butland and defenders Glen Johnson and Marc Wilson through injury, while forward Jonathan Walters, midfielder Glenn Whelan and winger Marko Arnautovic are all major doubts for the clash.

Possible Stoke Team Selection

Haugaard, Bardsley, Shawcross, Wollscheid, Pieters, Cameron, Imbula, Shaqiri, Bojan, Afellay, Joselu

Possible Tottenham Team Selection

Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dier, Dembele, Lamela, Eriksen, Alli, Kane

Match Prediction

Stoke have not been able to find any consistency of late and face a tough task getting anything from this game. For me Tottenham will have too much quality for the Potters in this clash and record a vital victory in the title race.
