Sunderland hosts Southampton at the Stadium of Light on Saturday in the Premier League, as the home side attempts to get back to winning ways in the top-flight.
Sunderland are now 19th in the Premier League table after last weekend’s 6-2 defeat at Everton. The Black Cats had more attempts on goal than the home side, but another terrible defensive display saw them come home with nothing but a heavy defeat.
The Black Cats looked good going forward at times at Goodison Park. Jermain Defoe and Steven Fletcher both got on the scoresheet and they will have to keep finding the net if Sunderland are to have a chance of getting out of the relegation zone this season.
Southampton defeated south coast rivals Bournemouth 2-0 on Sunday, with goals from Steven Davis and Graziano Pelle. The win moved the Saints into seventh position in the Premier League table. However their away form this season has not been great.
Ronald Koeman’s side will see this game at a struggling side as the perfect opportunity to improve that record away from home this season. Italian striker Pelle has hit form this season with six goals and five assists in the top-flight.

John O’Shea, Adam Matthews, Lee Cattermole, Ola Toivonen and Fabio Borini are all doubts for the clash against the Saints.

Sunderland v Southampton Match Prediction

Sunderland can cause Southampton problems in this one, but the way the Black Cats luck has been of late I think the Saints may just pick-up a rare away win. It looks like there could also be goals in this game.
