The north east side claimed a crucial 1-0 win at Crystal Palace last out on Monday night, with former-England international Jermain Defoe scoring the winning goal. The victory moved the Black Cats to within a point of moving out of the relegation zone.
Defoe is back in favour with boss Sam Allardyce and has now scored two goals in his last three Premier League appearances. The former-Spurs striker has four top-flight goals for the season.
Stoke picked-up their second consecutive 1-0 Premier League victory at Southampton last time out with Bojan scoring the winning goal. The Potters have been very solid at the back in recent months, which has enabled Mark Hughes’ side to hit a spot of form.
Stoke are well-positioned in the Premier League sitting 11th, having made a very slow start to the campaign.

Bojan is in form and we fancy him to score first, he is a general 13/2 with most bookmakers – Place Bet Here

Facts And Figures

The 14 Premier League meetings between these two teams have been relatively equal. Sunderland has claimed six wins, Stoke have won four times and four games have resulted in draws.
However the story at the Stadium of Light is completely different, as the Black Cats have won five of the seven games played, while the other two games have resulted in draws.
Stoke boss Mark Hughes has faced opposition number Sam Allardyce on 16 occasions and suffered just three defeats, claiming seven wins and six draws against the former-West Ham boss.
Stoke have kept clean sheets in their last four away games in the Premier League. That defensive solidarity has contributed to there being under 2.5 goals scored in the Potters last six away games in the top-flight.
The Potters have kept four clean sheets in their last five Premier League outings.
The home side have won just two of their last 16 top-flight games.

Team Selection & News

The Black Cats are without the suspended Billy Jones, while fellow full-back Adam Matthews is a major doubt for the clash. Forwards Jermain Defoe and Fabio Borini are slight doubts, but both are expected to recover in time to feature.
Sam Allardyce may decide to field the same starting line-up that won at Crystal Palace last time out, with the exception of DeAndre Yedlin replacing the missing Jones.
Stoke have a relatively clean bill of health. Only veteran back-up ‘keeper Shay Given has been ruled out with injury, although Spanish defender Marc Muniesa and Swiss playmaker Xherdan Shaqiri are doubtful for this clash.

Possible Sunderland line-up: Pantilimon, Yedlin, Coates, Kaboul, O’Shea, Van Aanholt, M’Vila, Cattermole, Larsson, Defoe and Fletcher

Possible Stoke line-up: Butland, Johnson, Wollscheid, Shawcross, Pieters, Whelan, Adam, Shaqiri, Bojan, Arnautovic, Walters

Sunderland v Stoke Match Prediction

This game does not promise many goals, as Stoke have look very well organised in the last few months. The Potters have not been prolific at the other end of the pitch either. Sunderland will take confidence from that win last time out and for me this clash will probably end in a low-scoring draw.
