Swansea play hosts to Liverpool at the Liberty Stadium in one of the Premier League’s early kick-off on Sunday, with the Reds attempting to secure a top-six finish.

Swansea suffered a 4-0 defeat at Leicester City last time out in the Premier League. A goal from Riyad Mahrez, a brace from Leonardo Ulloa and late effort from Marc Albrighton saw the Foxes confirm the victory.

The Swans are 15th in the Premier League table, but the side from Wales are nine points clear of the relegation zone and should have done enough to stay in the top-flight this season.

Liverpool drew 2-2 with Newcastle at Anfield last time out, after blowing a two-goal lead. Daniel Sturridge and Adam Lallana scored for the Reds, before second half goals from Papiss Cisse and Jack Colback gave the north east side a crucial point.

The draw leaves Liverpool in seventh position in the Premier League and their chances of gate-crashing the top-four now look highly unlikely. However, Klopp’s side will still be looking to finish in the top six this season.

Daniel Sturridge could be a one to watch in this clash, as the England international has now scored five goals in his last six Premier League appearances for the Reds.

Facts And Figures

These two teams have met on nine occasions, with Liverpool recording five wins, three games resulting in draws and Swansea claiming just one victory.

The four Premier League meetings at the Liberty Stadium have been more equal with both teams claiming a win apiece and two games finishing in draws.

Liverpool have won six of the last seven meetings of these two teams, including the last five meetings in all competitions.

Liverpool have won four out of their last five games in all competitions and are unbeaten in seven games in all competitions.

Jurgen Klopp’s sides form has been impressive in recent months, as the Reds have suffered just one defeat in their last 16 games in all competitions.

Swansea have kept clean sheets in their last three home games in the Premier League.

However, the Swans defence will face a stern test against the Reds, who have scored two or more goals in nine of their last ten outings in the top-flight.

Team Selection And News

Swansea have the luxury of a fully-fit squad to choose from, so boss Francesco Guidolin may make changes to the starting line-up from last time out.

Liverpool have a number of personnel issues. Joe Gomez and Danny Ings have long-term injuries and are joined on the sidelines by Emre Can, Jordan Henderson and Divock Origi through injury. French centre-back Mamadou Sakho is likely to be absent from the squad after recently failing a drugs test.

It remains to be seen how many players Jurgen Klopp rests ahead of the Europa League semi-final second leg, but the German is likely to make a few changes to his team.

Possible Swansea Team Selection

Fabianski, Naughton, Williams, Fernandez, Taylor, Ki, Cork, Montero, Sigurdsson, Ayew, Paloschi

Possible Liverpool Team Selection

Mignolet, Flanagan, Lovren, Skrtel, Moreno, Lucas, Milner, Firmino, Ibe, Lallana, Sturridge.

Match Prediction

The visitors have found decent form in recent weeks and look the more likely winners, with Swansea already seemingly on the beach for their summer holidays. The Europa League may prove a distraction though for Liverpool though, so the Welsh side may just nick a draw.
