Tottenham v West Brom Preview

Tottenham hosts West Brom at White Hart Lane on Monday night in the Premier League, as the home side continue to pursue the Premier League title.

Tottenham kept their Premier League title charge alive with a commanding 4-0 win at Stoke last time out. Dele Alli and Harry Kane both scored a brace to give Mauricio Pochettino’s side a comfortable win in the Potteries.

The win moved the side from north London to within five points of league leaders Leicester and both Alli and Kane have been pivotal to Spurs title challenge this season.

Youngster Alli has scored ten times and produced a further 12 assists and striker Kane tops the league’s scoring charts with 24 goals this season.

West Brom arrives in north London on the back of a 1-0 home defeat against Watford, with Ben Watson scoring the only goal of the game. The Baggies form has taken a turn for the worse in recent games and they have now lost three out of their last four games in the top-flight.

Boss Tony Pulis is apparently under-pressure, but the side from the Midlands are comfortably in midtable in the Premier League.

Facts And Figures

These two teams have met 19 times in the Premier League with Tottenham recording eight wins. Eight games have finished in draws and West Brom have win three times.

The nine Premier League meetings at the Hawthorns have seen four wins for Tottenham, four draws and West Brom record just one win.

The Baggies have won just one of the last ten meetings between these two teams in all competitions, but that win came at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has faced Tony Pulis on four occasions, winning twice and drawing twice. The Argentinian is unbeaten against the former-Palace boss.

Tottenham have won five out of their last six games at home in the Premier League. Pochettino’s side has also scored two or more goals in their last four home games in the Premier League.

West Brom have won just one of their last 11 away games in the Premier League.

Team Selection And News

Tottenham have a relatively clean bill of health heading into this vital clash. Algerian midfielder Nabil Bentaleb is still sidelined through injury, while Cameroon international striker Clinton N’Jie also looks unlikely to figure for Spurs.

The Baggies have no fresh injury concerns, but midfielder James Morrison is joined on the sidelines through injury by captain Chris Brunt, while on-loan Tottenham midfielder Alex Pritchard is ineligible to feature against his parent club.

Possible Tottenham Team Selection

Lloris, Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose, Dier, Dembele, Lamela, Eriksen, Alli, Kane

Possible West Brom Team Selection

Foster, Dawson, Evans, McAuley, Chester, Yacob, Fletcher, Berahino, Gardner, McClean, Rondon

Match Prediction

West Brom have very little to play for this season and are just looking forward to the end of the campaign. Tottenham on the other hand look to have the bit between their teeth and should record a comfortable win in this clash.
