Watford take on Everton at Vicarage Road on Saturday in the Premier League, as both teams look to get back to winning ways following defeats last time out.

Watford’s recent poor form continued last time out, as the Hornets suffered a 4-0 defeat at Arsenal. Alexis Sanchez, Alex Iwobi, Hector Bellerin and Theo Walcott all got on the scoresheet to give the Gunners a comfortable victory.

The Hornets are comfortably in midtable in 14th position, but have suffered four straight defeats in the Premier League. Despite looking like they are safe from the spectre of relegation, one more win should make sure off it, as they are currently ten points clear of the drop zone.

Everton’s poor recent run of form also continued last time out with a 1-0 defeat at Champions League chasing Manchester United, as French forward Anthony Martial scored the crucial winning goal.

The Toffees have endured a poor Premier League campaign and currently sit 12th in the Premier League table after three consecutive defeats in the top-flight. The pressure is now mounting on boss Roberto Martinez to turn things around or his position could be in jeopardy this summer.

Facts And Figures

These two teams have met on five occasions in the Premier League, with Everton recording four wins and the other one ending in a draw. Everton have won both of the Premier League games played at Vicarage Road.

Everton have won eight of the last ten meetings in all competitions, with Watford claiming just one win in the process. However, Quique Sanchez Flores’ side did record a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

The Hornets last victory over Everton came back in 1987 in the old first division.

The home side have not won any of their last five games in the Premier League. In fact they have won just one of their last eight games in the Premier League and lost their last four in the top-flight.

Watford have failed to score in six of their last eight games in the top-flight.

Team Selection And News

Watford defenders Tommie Hoban and Joel Ekstrand are likely to be ruled out of this clash through injury, while Swiss international midfielder Valon Behrami is also a doubt for this clash. Juan Manuel Jurado, Miguel Britos and Nordin Amrabat will all be hoping for starts in this one.

The visitors will be without full-backs Tony Hibbert and Tyias Browning have been ruled out through injury, while midfielders Steven Pienaar and Darron Gibson are doubtful. Gareth Barry is likely to return in midfield after suspension.

Possible Watford Team Selection

Gomes, Nyom, Prodl, Cathcart, Ake, Abdi, Watson, Suarez, Capoue, Ighalo, Deeney

Possible Everton Team Selection

Robles, Coleman, Stones, Jagielka, Baines, Barry, McCarthy, Lennon, Barkley, Deulofeu, Lukaku

Match Prediction

Neither of these two sides have been in any sort of form in recent months, but the visitors seem to perform better away from home this season and I can see side from Merseyside sneaking a narrow win in this clash.
