West Ham entertain Aston Villa at the Boleyn Ground on Tuesday night in the Premier League, as the home side attempt to close the gap on the top four.
West Ham drew 0-0 at Liverpool in the fourth round of the FA Cup last time out. The draw means that the Hammers have now gone three games without a win in all competitions. Slaven Bilic’s team are still however sixth-place in the Premier League table.
With fifth-place Manchester United just a point ahead and fourth-place Spurs only six points clear the Hammers are still in with a chance of claiming a European place this season.
Aston Villa’s poor campaign continued last time out with a 4-0 home defeat against Manchester City at home in the FA Cup fourth round. That defeat ended a five game unbeaten run for the Villans in all competitions, although two of those games were against lower league Wycombe.
Villa’s performances have improved since the arrival of Remi Garde as boss, but the side from the Midlands are still bottom of the table, ten points away from safety after a listless goalless draw at Midlands rivals West Brom last time out in the top-flight.

For the home side full-back Carl Jenkinson and attacking midfielder Manuel Lanzini join strikers Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho on the sidelines through injury. Defender James Tomkins, midfielders Cheick Kouyate and Mark Noble are also doubts for the game.
Spanish ‘keeper Adrian may return in goal, after missing out last time out due to his partner going into labour back in his homeland. Joel Byram start the game at right-back with Tomkins doubtful.
Aston Villa are definitely without full-back Jordan Amavi and winger Adama Traore, while strikers Rudy Gestede and Libor Kozak are doubts, along with midfielder Carlos Sanchez.

West Ham v Aston Villa Match Prediction

West Ham have looked strong this season, especially at the Boleyn Ground. Villa have improved of late, but I cannot see the Villans being good enough to take anything from this clash and the Hammers should claim a win.
