West Ham take on Watford at the Boleyn Ground in a London Premier League derby on Wednesday night, as the home team attempt to revive their bid for a top-four finish.

West Ham drew 2-2 at Premier League leaders Leicester City last time out. Leicester took the lead through Jamie Vardy before the striker was dismissed for a second bookable offence in the second half.

The Hammers looked set to win the game after Andy Carroll equalised from the penalty spot and Aaron Cresswell scored a superb half volley. However the Foxes equalised in stoppage-time through a Leonardo Ulloa penalty kick.

The draw leaves the Hammers in sixth place and the dream of a Champions League spot now looks unlikely.

Watford ended a poor run of results in the Premier League of late last time out with a 1-0 win at West Brom, as midfielder Ben Watson scored winning goal. That was not the full story though, as Hornets ‘keeper Heurelho Gomes saved two penalty kicks from Baggies striker Saido Berahino.

The win moved the Hornets up to 12th position in the Premier League table, but with an FA Cup semi-final this weekend against Crystal Palace looming it seems their attention may be elsewhere.

Facts And Figures

These two teams have met just five times in the Premier League with both teams winning twice and one game finishing in a draw. The two Premier League meetings at the Boleyn Ground have seen one side claim a victory apiece.

West Ham have won just one of the last seven meetings of these two sides in all competitions, with Watford recording five wins in that run of games.

Watford have won just one of their last seven outings in the Premier League, but that was last time out at West Brom.

The Hornets have lost five of their last seven away games in the Premier League and failed to score in all five of those defeats.

West Ham have managed to score two goals or more in their last five top-flight outings, but have won just one of those games.

Team Selection And News

The Hammers have a relatively clean bill of health with only central midfielder Alex Song and striker Diafra Sakho doubts. England international Andy Carroll impressed off the bench last time out and is expected to start, as is Argentinian playmaker Manuel Lanzini.

Watford are once again missing young centre-back Tommie Hoban through injury, while defenders Craig Cathcart, Joel Ekstrand and Jose Holebas are joined on the doubtful list by midfielder Almen Abdi.

Possible West Ham Team Selection

Adrian, Antonio, Reid, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Noble, Kouyate, Payet, Lanzini, Moses, Carroll

Possible Watford Team Selection

Gomes, Nyom, Prodl, Britos, Ake, Guedioura, Capoue, Watson, Jurado, Ighalo, Deeney

Match Prediction

West Ham have hit form in front of goal of late and will be desperate for a win in their attempts to catch the teams in the top four. Watford have struggled for goals in recent months and the Hammers should have enough quality to record a win in this clash.
